Victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) are a hidden population who are not easy to reach. Community Radio has offered a very strategic way to reach these children. Through radio we can deliver any messages related to child protection issues to children involved in CSEC and the broader community.

In this pilot program we partnered with an existing community radio station called Radio Pelangi (‘rainbow’) 107.8 FM that has been operating since 2009 and managed by local people in Harapan Beach.

Radio Pelangi has very good acceptance from the community measured by an average of 1000 SMS (Short Messages Services) received by Radio Pelangi each day.

In collaboration with Radio Pelangi, this pilot project enabled the community to combat CSEC through education and entertainment.
